When you are shopping for running shoes, the options can be overwhelming. There are so many choices from each brand! GEL-NIMBUS™, GEL-KAYANO™, and GEL-CUMULUS™ running shoes share similar traits. All are road shoes, meaning they are meant to be worn by runners who run on sidewalks or asphalt, not dirt trails. However, there are some key differences between each of these ASICS shoes.

GEL-NIMBUS

If comfort is your priority, look no further than the GEL-NIMBUS shoe. These shoes feature plush cushioning and are designed to keep your stride stable and comfortable for many miles. The GEL-NIMBUS is a neutral shoe, meaning it is best for runners who do not over-pronate. The shoe features a 10mm drop and weighs 10.9 oz (in men’s).

GEL-KAYANO

The GEL-KAYANO running shoe may look similar to the GEL-NIMBUS shoe on paper, but when you wear it, you will notice a difference in its ride. The Kayano provides more stability, but can still be worn by neutral runners. While the drop and weight are the same as the GEL-NIMBUS, the GEL-KAYANO shoe features a more responsive ride–so that you can maintain your speed without sacrificing comfort.

GEL-CUMULUS

The GEL-CUMULUS is your go-to everyday trainer. While not as cushioned as the GEL-KAYANO or GEL-NIMBUS, it provides support and shock absorption over your daily runs. The GEL-CUMULUS shoe is slightly lighter than the GEL-KAYANO or GEL-NIMBUS shoe, weighing 9.9 oz (1 oz lighter) in men’s sizing. The FLYTEFOAM™ midsole gives you a smooth ride at any pace.

Differences between ASICS Running shoes

Each of these shoes offers something different, based on the type of run you are doing. The GEL-NIMBUS is ideal for long runs where comfort is a priority. If you want to go a bit faster without sacrificing comfort, then the GEL-KAYANO is your best choice. Want to go faster still? Then lace up in the GEL-CUMULUS No matter which one you choose, you will have a good run!
