Lee Chaix McDonough  I'd hoped for 5-6 miles today, but my ITBS flared up at two miles and was getting worse by 3.7. I figured it was better to stop than risk aggravating it further. A little bummed, but at least I got a run in. Happy New Year!
Daniel Gonzalez  The heart and mind maybe 18 years old, but those rebellious tendons, flexors and, iliotibial bands and can strike up a tune of the worst kind. consider it a good 5K though. Well done. Happy New Year!
Peter J  Good to see you operationnal again. Take things nice and easy so that it keeps that way. Admire your restraint.

Lee Chaix McDonough  A really, really good run for me! Not incredibly fast or anything, but minimal pain and my intervals were fairly consistent. Still dealing with ITBS and hip flexor strain, but any discomfort was totally manageable. Things are a little stressful for me this weekend, so getting out for a good run felt great - I'm still feeling the endorphins a few hours later. So thankful - I needed a run like this today.
kyle taylor  great job and keep it up you will be back 100% soon.
Lee Chaix McDonough  Thanks KT!

Lee Chaix McDonough  I bought a new pair of shoes and a foam roller today, to try and help address my IT issues. On this run, I incorporated a few longer walk breaks when my knee began to act up - it still hurt, but at least I was able to complete the workout, albeit slowly.
Peter J  Take it easy, your time will come.
Lee Chaix McDonough  Thanks, PJO! I'm really, really trying. It's frustrating, because in regard to cardiovascular endurance, I feel great - I know I could run more. But I also know that trying to run through pain is a really stupid idea, so I'm slowing down and not pushing myself too hard too quickly. That being said, I want to be able to run the New Orleans 1/2 marathon on 2/13... so it's a tough balance to find. I appreciate the words of encouragement!
Lee Chaix McDonough Completed a 1.50 mi. running activity
First run after a hiatus, due to illness, knee problems, and apathy. Kept it slow and short to ease back in. Really struggling with IT band issues - felt it in my right hip and knee.

Matthew  It's never easy to get back into anything physical after being sick. I would chalk it up to getting back into the swing of things. Now that you have the first run back under your belt, you'll be good to go for next time. Besides, looking at the splits, I wouldn't call it a crappy (x3) run :)
Peter J  Hey lcmcdonough, how's the knee? Hope things are ok and look forward to seeing your runs in the near future. Take care,

Lee Chaix McDonough  Thanks, Limester - I am happy! My main goal was to run a faster time than I did in my October 5K - and I did, by almost two minutes. I also wanted to come in under 32 minutes - and even though it's 32:10, I pressed "start" just before the starting line and "stop" just after, so I think I may have actually done it. But I'm pleased nonetheless. :)
kyle taylor  congrats on that!! Way to go and keep it up

Lee Chaix McDonough  I am... had a red-eye flight Monday night/Tuesday morning and did not sleep, so I'm still a bit jet-lagged and felt it in my run today. But I'm home and getting back into the swing of things!
Lee Chaix McDonough  Thanks! It was too beautiful NOT to run - seeing mountains and ocean certainly made it more enjoyable.
